3/20 - Phoenix - left SD with Dennis and Helen straight from the airport and had pizza and wine at Chuck and Kelly's in Phoenix that evening. Great RV Resort in Mesa; wood shop, miniature train, sewing, horseshoes and etc! Valle de Oro RV Resort. What retirement is about if your home is on wheels.
3/21 - US 60 East to Datill AZ - beautiful mountains, great afternoon lunch by the side of the road. No name RV park in the woods behind an old restaurant/store/gas station. Froze looking at the stars. Great breakfast too.
3/22 - Belen (Harvey House Museum and lots of train traffic) and purported purpose of the trip! See vast estate left to Dennis. Then, to Carrizozo. No Name RV park by the train tracks. 3/23 - Lincoln home to Lincoln County Wars and Billy the Kid. Great old west authentic town; mostly closed for the season. On to Roswell! Another purpose of the trip. Fun museum, no sightings. Go once in your life. Red Barn RV park; character running it. Looked like old biker!3/24 - Roswell to Santa Fe. Really old town (by US standards) with town square. Ate at a restaurant with great piano entertainment by Todd Bloom's cousin. Trailer Ranch RV Resort. Nice proprietors.
3/25 - Bye Dennis and Helen -miss you! Albuquerque to Taos. Also great old town with square. Cool vibe, good walking among old buildings but too many art places. Free RV Parking! Doc Martin's Restaurant including rabbit and snake sausage. Taos Valley RV Park.
3/26 - Across Rio Grand Gorge Bridge, almost as good a sight as Royal Gorge bridge by Canon City. Royal Gorge was closed due to a burn last year; open weekends and only by tour bus then. Interesting vibe to No NM. Biotecture; development of people living off the grid in nice, but non conforming houses. Later, saw lots of off the grid housing without any plan to the development. Wonder how all the off the grid people decided to congregate there. Headed straight north into weather! Snowed a lot by the time we got to Leadville; parked and woke to snow to the hubs. Great old bar (except only two types of scotch) by the RV Park right in town. Leadville RV Corral. Have to come back to experience the whole city and history.
3/27 Leadville to Golden; Sandy's best and almost worst day. Lots more snow (bought chains but didn't have to put them on). Rig covered in snow/ice that would drop off at unexpected intervals. Didn't slide in snow, all was well. Classic scenes with mountains and trees full of snow. Dakota Ridge RV Resort.
3/28 - Oh good. I don't think there is too much in storage.
3/29 - Ratz; more than I thought. Slow going to sort. Hi Jodi and Greg; nice to see you again3/30 - Empty Storage Locker!!! Chuck and Jim and Paul and Betty
3/31 - Bonnie and Doug and Laruel4/1 - Golden to Durango - Silverton to Ouray; damn, weathered out. use 285 to Durango, not the Million Dollar Highway. Hi Dianne and Terry; neat town; old downtown looked great; have to do the train sometime. heard it leave from the campground. Alpen Rose RV park.
4/2 - Nice ride (Wolf Creek Pass) Pagosa Springs and on to Mexican Hat UT - Great Bridge Store/bar . Walked until we froze along the San Juan river. Saw a strange long "hill" of gravel in the distance; drove by and found it was a radioactive waste dump.
4/3 - Monument Valley; have to see it. Words can't do it justice. Mexican Hat to Camp Verde AZ via Sedona; have to go do the train and the ATV rides in Sedona! Distant Drums RV park. Nice BIG rig park across from Indian Gambling casino.
4/4 - road to HOME! Yea; great to see Michelle in Phoenix; lunch in the RV with her. Drove via Quartzite and the exploding Jan/Feb area for RVs. Might have to spend a day or two there in high season; really a trip with many dry campers. Onward via Glamis OHV park. Nice sunset with some ATV activity.
